Cost Volume Profit (CVP) Analysis Applications

Cost Volume Profit (CVP) Analysis Applications 1. Presentation The utilization of Cost Volume Profit (CVP) Analysis relies on various clear suspicions, for its application in settling issues, rearranging complexities and helping dynamic in business issues. Regions of use, bury alia, incorporate valuing, ascertaining commitment, registering costs, choosing deals blends, evaluating breakeven focuses, surveying benefit, and accomplishing benefits. As a money related apparatus in the possession of bookkeepers, (experts who are commonly more at home in managing basic and direct number juggling than with the complexities of measurements and analytics), it is significant, splendid in its straightforwardness and in its capacity for utilizing clear counts to bode well out of confounded business circumstances. CVP examinations take a shot at certain fundamental suspicions in territories of deals, in unit cost and volume, and costs, fixed and variable, for their least complex and most direct applications. In any case, the anomalies of real business circumstances, their inclination to get mind boggling factors, and their obstinate refusal to submit to the standards of arithmetical linearity, present various issues that occasionally make it hard to apply basic arithmetical ideas like CVP towards their goals. The straightforwardness of an expository instrument, for example, CVP can cut the two different ways. It very well may be the two its most noteworthy righteousness and its significant weakness. This present reality is convoluted, no less so in the realm of administrative issues; and a run of the mill explanatory model will evacuate a considerable lot of those complexities so as to safeguard a sharp core interest. That honing is generally accomplished in two essential manners: disentangling suppositions are made about the fundamental idea of the model and limitations are forced on the extent of the model. (Guidry, Horrigan Craycraft, 1998) Organizations that don't have a solitary item deals portfolio, and who, in the ordinary course of their exercises, sell various items, some of the time very disparate from one another, face much increasingly troublesome and complex difficulties in the use of CVP ideas. It is the motivation behind this task to look at the fittingness of applying CPV procedures in business conditions, wherein organizations produce and sell various different items, with specific reference to the particular suppositions required for such activities. 2. Discourse In base terms, a CVP examination manages deals, costs, commitment and extreme gainfulness. Arithmetical control of the connection between unit deal value, absolute deals, variable costs, commitment, fixed expenses and productivity, brings about data about breakeven volumes, the ramifications of both variable and fixed expenses on edges and last benefit, consequently helping dynamic in such issues. a. Deals The primary series of expectations, in this procedure, concerns monetary information with respect to deals. CVP methods chip away at the presumption that item deal costs will stay steady and all out deals will fundamentally be a direct numerous of the quantity of units sold. In that capacity, if ‘x’ is the business cost in GBP and ‘a’ the volume in units, all out deals will approach hatchet GBP. In many business circumstances, factors like volume and money limits, just as early on offers to new clients, regularly cause changes in deals costs. It is general practice for bookkeepers, in such circumstances, to show up at a normal deals cost contingent on the business condition, and the necessities of the market, and apply it for CVP works out. This circumstance could get muddled, if deals costs contrast in various land regions, and interminably progressively complex for investigation, if an organization manages various items, every one of which may have a scope of things, and diverse estimating approaches. Moreover, the utilization of normal costs turns out to be evidently unsatisfactory, if not out and out senseless, in conditions where various assorted items make up the business bin. b. Variable Costs Expenses, for CVP investigations, comprise of two general classifications, variable expenses and fixed expenses. Variable expenses are costs that change legitimately with respect to changes in volume. They incorporate the wages of creation laborers or sales reps, crude materials, electric capacity to run machines, and the expense of looking after stock. While most factor costs are of an immediate sort, their development, in reality, is rarely carefully straight and they will in general change to some degree, diminishing with introductory volume increments, staying stable for a generous period and afterward crawling upwards, after volumes surpass a specific cutoff. While bookkeepers know that expenses are rarely completely factor or completely fixed, this separation helps in certain activities, eminently CVP applications. Costing and creation offices along these lines attempt to isolate variable expenses as far as they could possibly know and capacity. â€Å"Splitting out fixed and variable expenses can be a long, tedious procedure; and strategies, for example, the investigation of records strategy truly are not reasonable if the examination is to be practical. In any event, a measurable or scientific examination should be undertaken.†(Williamson, 2000) The effect of various deals costs, and variable expenses, of various things, for an organization that bargains in numerous assorted items, presents a large group of complexities in the utilization of CVP strategies, which basically take a shot at the presumptions of single product offerings, consistent deals costs, variable expenses, and direct developments of both, as per volumes. Fixed Costs, another significant factor for CVPA works out, involve costs that don't change in relation to the degree of movement of a business. They can incorporate the two overheads, similar to lease and utilities, just as immediate costs like compensations. It additionally needs understanding that fixed expenses stay consistent just inside a specific scope of action, and for a positive period. They are very subject to change with time and with level of movement. c. Multi item Situations CVP practices utilize every one of these segments, to be specific deals costs, deals volume, variable expenses and fixed expenses to come to end results with respect to commitment edges, breakeven focuses, evaluating choices, least volumes that need selling, and comparable other monetary issues. While CVP investigations progress on the supposition that essential elements will carry on typically, at any rate for single item organizations, the circumstance, all things considered, business conditions is altogether different and deals costs, variable expenses and fixed expenses get affected by improvements like changes in valuing arrangements, requirements for uncommon limits, expansion, and mid term pay increments. All associations are dependent upon vulnerabilities, prompting dangers of neglecting to meet desires. Despite the fact that every association is dependent upon particular business hazards, every one of them face vulnerabilities identified with the financial condition. These vulnerabilities increment complex on account of associations that bargain in different various items, with varying deals costs and variable expenses. Indeed, even the treatment of fixed expenses becomes complex since some fixed expenses would be pertinent to explicit product offerings, (for example departmental compensations or lease) while others would be material to all item bunches like the MD’s compensation or lawful retainer expenses. Such business settings lead to infringement of essential presumptions required for CVP works out. In addition, such a nonlinear conduct, of the two incomes and costs, and the expanding number of vulnerabilities could influence the suppositions required for CVP examinations and lead to invalid ends. What's more, it could be hard to decide the purpose of working action where tasks move into another applicable range. Any basic and direct endeavor at settling CVP issues, in any event, for an organization with only ten product offerings, ea ch with various income and cost qualities could therefore come up short without the utilization of numerical displaying, which now and again could turn out to be very clumsy. Multi item circumstances, which consequently lead to the rise of various factors and to the infringement of the precepts of CVP strategies, are unavoidable, all things considered, business circumstances, and it would in this manner be very difficult to track down issues that fulfill all CVP suppositions. Does this infer the CVP technique is only an oversimplified arithmetical apparatus that is sufficient for use in costing course books, just as for rearranging essential cost issues for apprentices, however really of no utilization, all things considered, circumstances where (a) the business bushels of organizations consistently have numerous items, and (b) costs are not managable to straitjacketed conduct? Despite the pitiful likelihood of the presumptions required for CVP practices happening, in actuality, circumstances, CVP examinations despite everything keep up their pertinence in operational and money related dynamic, even in multi item circumstances, yet with certain stipulations and adjustments. The most across the board utilization of CVO, in multi item circumstances occurs in the detailing and assurance of deals blend. In such circumstances where there are, for instance, five items with contrasting unit deals costs and variable costs, it is conceivable to discover the commitment of every item per piece, by taking away the variable expense from the business cost. An investigation of relative commitments therefore gives data about the possible benefit of the various items, and assurance of the item blend that will contribute most towards the gainfulness of the organization. The utilization of a commonsense model will be useful in showing these announcements Information identifying with theoretical Company ABC Item A B C D E Deals Price GBP 5 6 8 11 12 Deals Volumes Nos. 100 250 325 25 200 Item Mix % 11 28 36 3 22 Variable Costs GBP 3 2 4 5 7 Commitment GBP 2 4 4 6 5

Disabled by Wilfred Owen and Whos for the game by Jessie Pope Essays

Impaired by Wilfred Owen and Whos for the game by Jessie Pope Essays Impaired by Wilfred Owen and Whos for the game by Jessie Pope Essay Impaired by Wilfred Owen and Whos for the game by Jessie Pope Essay Article Topic: Writing The two sonnets I have picked are Disabled by Wilfred Owen and Whos for the game by Jessie Pope. The two Poems are set around the war yet they show altogether different points of view. In Disabled, Owen recounts to the narrative of a youngster from the Scottish Regiment who was a kindred patient in the emergency clinic Owen was sent to subsequent to experiencing shell stun. Owen was baffled with war and wrote to show individuals reality and devastate the picture of war made by purposeful publicity. Pope was an individual from the White Feather Brigade, as they were known. Ladies who felt it was their obligation to their nation to send their men to war. Any lady who was seen out with a man not in uniform was named a backstabber; men who didn't sign up were given white quills as an image of their weakness. Popes work was a lot of a bit of the promulgation Owen was facing. She was inspiring the men of Britain. The main thing to strike the peruser would be the distinction in disposition between the two pieces; Owens work is despairing the story of one man thinking about his squandered life. In the second line he discusses his terrible suit of dark, this could allude to his demob suit or more probable the state of mind of the subject. Though Popes sonnet is light practically like a tune, the language is basic so as to contact a more extensive crowd. The kid in Disabled is glancing back at his vanity with lament. He seems to invest his energy trusting that every day will end as though he was simply standing by to bite the dust. He hears kids at play they just fill in as a token of what he has lost; he was minimal in excess of a youngster when he joined the war. As night attracts he recollects the manner in which the town woke up around evening time, again this is excruciating he will never again wake up and move and be glad. Pope alludes to the war as a game and a battle, this could be deciphered as a call to youngsters, which in fact occurred, the character in crippled concedes that he was underage when he enrolled, nobody appeared to mind. They just grinned and composed his untruth. The two sonnets likewise allude to brandish in spite of the fact that in various manners. Pope asks who needs a turn in the show and notices the individuals who don't participate as being left in the stands potentially the football represents observers. In the fourth and 6th verse Owen alludes to his subjects love of football. How he was taken away the field successful with an injury to the leg. The way that he was likewise stolen away the combat zone with leg wounds, however this time he lost his appendages proposes that Pope isn't right to deprecate war and its revulsions war is certainly not a game and it positively isn't childs play. Pope is requesting that her crowd consider the to be as spectacular which to be sure is the thing that Owens character did he confesses to enrolling to intrigue, he needed to pull in the young ladies. He was told he would glance great in uniform, he talks about his attractive features, of his vanity. Now he had no dread, he had no considerations he was not terrified of anything. He needed the distinction and the allure that individuals like Pope were advertising. He didnt consider the individuals he would be battling against. He didn't have anything individual against them they were simply foe. Pope utilizes embodiment to allude to Britain as a lady. Without a doubt she is requesting that the men sign up and secure her as a man ought to ensure his lady. A demonstration of gallantry! Pope is provoking the men, on the off chance that they don't enroll and battle for their nation they are not men, they are quitters. Toward the finish of the sonnet when she inquires as to whether they will stand and nibble their thumbs, it might be proposed that she is comparing them to babies sucking their thumbs. Pope makes reference to a bolster as though it might be a keepsake, one could be excused for thinking about how the kid in incapacitated may feel hearing this, he has his gift of war. A suit without legs which has the sleeves sewn short at the elbow. He tossed his appendages and his life away for his nation, as did such huge numbers of others. He did as he was asked what does he have to appear for it? Pope utilizes redundancy in the subsequent refrain to underscore the way that their nation required assistance she required men in the positions, Pope addresses the men and young men more than once as though sitting tight for an answer. Pope makes reference to the festivals as the young men are sent off. Owens kid thoroughly understood that however the arrival was altogether different. He left a little youngster and restored an elderly person, he will never be entire, or have his freedom. All he will have is a couple of more years spent in organizations while he held back to bite the dust, with ladies seeing him in feel sorry for. He will never have the delight of a lady, he won't be the one taking ladies to his bed, he will depend on the ladies to take care of him. In her work Pope is yelling out to the individuals to come participate with the fun, she is getting out for nationalism asking the men to set out their lives for their nation and requesting that the ladies send their spouses and children. She is addressing them informally, utilizing their language and testing them. The sonnet is composed shortsightedly utilizing expressions and terms that pull in all, specifically the more youthful age. The expression up to her neck is a slang term, which just as utilizing representation is a more realistic portrayal than to give accurate subtleties of where the war is up to at that point. It might be proposed that Pope was an extremely convincing lady who did a lot to help the war exertion and send men happily to their demise, which is potentially why men like Owen wanted to stand up and have their story heard. Owen doesn't endeavor to save the sentiments of the peruser he will likely stun. He needs the individuals to know reality; it might be contended that he felt a duty to the young people of his nation to tell them what they were in for. War was not all cheering and yelling as Pope recommended. War was awful, it took lives and the lives that were saved could never be the equivalent again.

†Wha’s the matter with me?’ she cried. ‘Ain’t I got a right to talk to nobody? While Crooks, a victim of racial prejudice, expresses his isolation openly, he also socializes with the other workers on the job and while playing horseshoes with them. Curley’s wife, on the other hand, cannot talk to anyone without suffering the consequences of a jealous husband: â€Å"I get lonely,’ she said. â€Å"You can talk to people, but I can’t talk to nobody but Curley. They want to convince a skeptical public that it is perfectly ok. The headless clone solves the facsimile problem. It is a gateway to the ultimate vanity: immortality. Because the skin ages, bones get weak and you would have to basically cut your head off and place it on the other body for this to even work. Good luck with that.

Me Too movement Essays - Feminism, Human Sexuality, Human Behavior

Me Too Movement: An End to Sexual Harassment and Assault Morgan Baker California Baptist University Author Note This paper is being submitted to Prof. Marilyn D. Moore in partial fulfillment of the course Intro to Sociology, SOC 213, on April 23, 2018. There are different cultures around the world that have an array of beliefs on the types of behaviors that are ethical and unethical. If there is no law against action, it is legal, no matter how many deem it unethical. This is because ethics are solely based on personal belief systems which immensely differ from person to person. Actual or attempted rape or sexual assault, unwanted pressure for sexual favors, sexual looks or gestures, or any material of sexual nature. This is just some unethical behavior which has lead people to stand up against sexual harassment. Sexual harassment does not just occur in a work setting, it can happen anywhere. Effects of sexual harassment can vary depending on the individuality of the recipient and the severity and duration of the harassment. The Hashtag resurfaced when Actor Alyssa Milano used it in support of a dear friend Rose McGowan's allegations of sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein. Burke along with other supporters wore black at the Golden Globes to protest sexual harassment in Hollywood. Burke was asked about the popularity of the movement and she answered, saying that "It's deeply humbling. This is something that I started out of necessity and something that I thought that my community needed, and it has grown over the years, but I never could envision it growing like this" (Borge 2018). She then explains that this movement "is more powerful because we're seeinga collaboration between these two worlds that people don't usually put together" (Borge,2018) . Burke is overwhelmed with the amount of support this movement has created and is even more excited to see the changes that come along. The underlaying purpose of this movement is to not associate shame with sexual harassment but a renewed attitude. As women come forward with stories of sexual assault and harassment, advocates are realizing that the "me too" movement can be an opportunity

Waste Tire solutions essays

Waste Tire solutions essays In the United States there is a serious safety problem, and economic opportunity. Automotive tires are often forgotten about when it comes to maintenance, and disposing of them. The Federal Government has billions in grants available for companies to find alternative uses for tires other than land filling. Few companies have volunteered their services because there is a lack of technology, and economic incentive to recycle tires. Land filling has some short-term benefits, but in the long-term, the health effects will affect you from disease-ridden mosquitoes, and pollution, to uncontrollable tire fires. In 2000 there were almost 300 million used tires discarded in the United States, over half of the tires were recycled or elese untilized for other applications. Approximately 110 million were either legally land filled or illegally added to the over 800 plus million tires that are already land filled in the United States. (ARC Inc) Waste tires represent a number of environmental, health and safety hazards to the public, as well as a public nuisance. In the state of Pennsylvania, about 12 million scrap tires are generated a year. While approximately 16 million scrap tires remain in large stockpiles scattered throughout the sate. (DEP- 4/26/01) Tire piles have the potential to create an environmental and health hazards for residents in neighboring communities. Rainwater collects in the tire piles creating an ideal environment for mosquitoes, which are known to transmit disease to humans. Because the tires partially fill with water regardless of their position and absorb sunlight, they provide an ideal environment for hatched larva. Although tire dumps are sometimes associated with rodents, the primary problem has been various species of mosquitoes. (DEP-4/26/01) These mosquitos, Ades triseratus and Culex pipiens, transmit three strains of encephalitis: Lacrosse encephalitis, St Louis encephalitis, and the West Nile virus. Recentl...

Verdict Of The Coroner's Inquest Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Verdict Of The Coroner's Inquest - Essay Example a dependent position." (Matthews, 2010) The law does draw a distinction between neglect and the negligence While essentially accidental, a failure by caregivers was the actual causative agent. The medical staff failed in their essential duties towards this patient, but health care was provided although the proper precautions were not taken to ensure that the prescribed treatment was administered correctly. It is noteworthy that the specialist pharmacist stated that no single person w as completely responsible for the death, in the capacity of sole culprit. ?he system was in place, not wholly effective. There were mistakes made by several parties. Yet it is clear that the mistaken dosage was clearly an error, per the professional diagnosis by Dr. R, where he described the dispensation of the medication as 'glaringly wrong', and a 'huge aberration.' Furthermore, investigations of medical findings pertaining to nodular sclerosing Hodgkin's disease will reveal that the condition is not in variably fatal. (van Spronsen et al., 2000) The inevitability of J's death is not to be taken for granted with absolute certainty. While a doctor had predicted the patient's present status to most likely result in mortality, the death of this individual was not unavoidable from this condition, nor should the consequences of his demise be viewed as less severe, on account of J's age or health status. Even should the physician's estimate of 27 months have been accurate, negligence is still apparent, and the patient was not entirely beyond hope. And while the Dr. has noted that J's condition was terminal, with a 27 month probable lifespan based on medical precedent for others suffering from nodular sclerosing Hodgkin's disease, the five-year survival rate ranges from 90 to 60%, depending upon... This essay analyzes that there are no apparent incentives that would suggest the error to be the result of deliberate action on the part of the patient, or on the part of the pharmacist. Thus negligence contributed to the accidental death of the patient, J. in the absence of actual malice, or evidence of deliberate denial of care and the narrative verdict is warranted in the case of J. The purposes of this inquest require an exhaustive summary of the circumstances surrounding the death of the patient, ways in which that death might have been prevented and contributing factors. This verdict has a ttempted to give a factual account of the demise of J, in the absence of deliberate, premeditated actions that were intended to cause death. This would also C exclude the deliberate withholding of sustenance or treatment. The narrative is an accounting of events and contributing factors, but it is not appropriate in this instance to make a definitive attempt to assign blame in the criminal sense. The pharmacy staff could have double checked their assumptions. The chief pharmacist could have ensured that those under him operated in accordance with the proper protocols. Nurses at the rest home should have had an opportunity to at least question the dosage, should any of them have been familiar with the standard dosages of this sort of chemotherapy. The principal pharmacist should in all probability face sanction, but his actions were not deliberate, and an attempt was made to provide care albeit grossly incorrect.

Principles of Accounting Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Principles of Accounting - Essay Example In simple terms accounting can be also referred to as â€Å"the language of business† because of its role that helped in recording and processing the financial information that the firm requires for management purpose (Mukherjee & Hanif, 2003; Galanza, 1995). The main purpose of accounting is to provide financial information that is required by an economic unit to enhance the efficiency of its operations. The tern economic entity not only signifies a business unit but also the entities that are operating without the purpose of profit-making like the public charities, clubs, churches and government bodies. The accounting information helps in decision making in the organization. For instance decision like availability of cash while going for purchasing of new equipments or whether the business is running in profit requires the knowledge of accounting information. This accounting information for a business unit is recorded by the accountant (Nobles, et al., 2012). Book keeping Me thod Book-keeping is referred to as the science and arts of recording business transactions and other financial transactions that are related to any institution, firm and associations of person or company. It is recorded in certain books at regular interval following certain definite rules. It is called as science because it represents certain systemized knowledge that are based on certain set of principles, which are followed throughout the process to ensure that the reason for recording the transaction can be explained carefully. On the other hand it is called arts since it involves the human ability and skill for recording the business transaction as per the principles (Kumar & Prasad, 1999). Scope The process of Book keeping involves two significant steps. Firstly the process involves recording of all the transaction in a book called journal. Secondly transferring all the transactions that were previously recorded into another book called as ledger. In order to know the net effe ct of all the transactions the various accounts that are recorded into the ledger are balanced. The main theme of book keeping is to prepare and maintain the records till the stage of preparation of Trial Balance (Rao, 2005). Importance Book-keeping serves as the foundation of the entire financial reporting and accounting process. The responsibility of book-keeper is to analyze and record all the financial transaction occurring in an organization. The sum total of all the transaction forms the basis of everything that includes grant proposals, cash forecast, budget, tax return and financial reports. The employees and other staff of an organization must understand the goal and mission of a non-profitable organization, in order to perform their jobs in an effective and professional way. This is particularly true for the accounting system. Each transaction that is being recorded while book-keeping is significant for the volunteers, donors, board members, management, community and emplo yees of the organization. Accurate information delivered in timely manner provides the stakeholders of the organization with the comment regarding the financial health of the organization.

United States Constitution Essay Example for Free

United States Constitution Essay By the 1850’s the Constitution, originally framed as an instrument of national unity, had become a source of sectional discord and tension and ultimately contributed to the failure of the union it has created. This was shown by interpretations of the constitution and other documents when the constitution was assorted together. It is known that the union did not last, for there was the Civil War. If everyone could agree on what the constitution implied, then there probably would not have been a civil war. From several of the documents, there are arguments about what the constitution states. Document E), â€Å"To the Argument, that the word ‘slaves’ and ‘slavery’ are not to be found in the Constitution, and therefore it was never intended to give any protection or countenance to the slave system, it is sufficient to reply, that no such words are continued in the instrument, other words were used, intelligently and specifically, to meet the necessities of slavery. † This indicates that the constitution can be interpreted differently, and when used with other documents, it can be incongruous. The Constitution can be interpreted in many different ways, which leads to sectional discord and tension. For many reasons, the South did not like what the constitution said. There were many conflictions with the compromise of 1850, map shown in (Document A) and the fugitive slave act. Certain Northerners were against slavery and the fugitive slave act that they even posted warnings for the slaves. (Document C). This fugitive slave act also helped drive the tension deeper into the United States. With drama now rumbling in the American underbellies, the small weight of anything slightly bad could set off a secession bomb. A freesoiler does not want to spread slavery, but he is okay with keeping it in a state it is already in. When the idea of popular sovereignty came about with the compromise of 1850, map shown in (Document A), those freesoilers in office were pushed harder into complex decisions over the popular sovereignty issue. All of the tension gathering, even authors were predestining the civil war. Ralph Waldo Emerson believed that the Constitution was a contradictory. (Document D). The Constitution continued to bring national unity until the 1850s, but later, a series of resolutions raised a great confusion about the view of the Constitution concerning slavery. At this time, the law encouraged a growing split between the North and the South.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight :: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

Sir Gawain and The Green Knight The story, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, was told in the14th century by an anonymous poet about a young knight on his first adventure. In my analysis of Part 4, lines 2358 through 2350, I will discuss the significance of the number three, the tap, the asking of the Green Knight his name, and the green belt. I will develop the theory that the author uses this story and these significant symbols to bring out his Christian beliefs about the flesh and its weakness. The passage opens with the Green Knight explaining why he has not struck Gawain the first two times because Gawain has kept the agreements. The agreement is that whatever the Green Knight wins in the woods, he will exchange with Sir Gawain for his earning in the castle at the end of each day. The Green Knight explains that the reason that Gawain is tapped is because the third time he withheld a part of his earnings for the day (the green belt). The Green Knight swings two times, stopping short; on the third time, he taps Gawain, scarring him but not chopping off his head. There is great significance in the fact that the events in this poem occur in multiples of three. Three times Gawain is tempted by the lovely lady, and on the third time, he succumbs to her temptations, by accepting the green belt. The hunts take place on three different days. The third day, Gawain withholds a portion of his earnings. The Green Knight swings at Gawain three times. He purposely misses the first two times. On the third time he taps him, leaving a scar. The significance of all these threes is that Christianity teaches the trilogy: the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost. Almost everything in life falls into groups threes: man, women, child; three trimesters to the birth of a child; the Sun, Moon and the Earth. The fact that the events unfold in counts of threes explains the depth with which the anonymous poet was trying to connect this story and this passage to the bible and biblical events. The tap represents Gawain's punishment for not exchanging his earnings. He is tapped instead of his head being chopped off because the Green Knight acknowledges the fact that he has told his wife, the lovely lady, to tempt Gawain and he understands why Gawain does not give up the green belt.

Intramurals Reflection Essay

Intramurals 2012 had the theme of: â€Å"Four Teams. One Goal. One Epic Olympics.† This years event marks my first Intramurals as a student of UP Cebu. I was so excited for this event because in my previous school we didn’t have the facilities for sports so, our intramurals had very limited activities. Unfortunately I didn’t get to participate in any of the sports this year but, I did participate during the parade as a flag bearer. Although the sun was burning, the practices were early, and it took away a part of my free time, it was all worth while when Ms. Empleo told us that the flags looked really nice during the parade. During the succeeding days, I watched most of the games and cheered for my division. I also helped with the preparations of the candidates for â€Å"Mister and Miss Fitness†. I had so much fun watching the teachers dance ballroom! It just goes to show that our teachers can do a whole lot more than just teach inside the classroom. After a whole week of cheering, screaming, and yelling for my division, I can say that its a miracle I didn’t loose my voice. In my opinion and based on my experience, Intramurals is the time where you get to know other people better and where you get to make new friends in your division or cluster because earlier during the semester as a freshman, you aren’t really given the chance to do so. Also, during the events, your inner determination is being brought out, as well as teamwork and cooperation. I noticed that there were some controversies and the competition was very heated. This cannot be avoided in any competition. It just shows how much school spirit we have, and how determined we are to win. It also shows that if your team is still standing strong despite the controversies, it means that your team has truly captured the essence of unity. Being a Management student, there was a great deal of pressure for my division to defend their title as overall champions, and champions for the cheer dance competition. I saw how sad everyone was, when the results of the cheer dance competition were announced. Sadly, this year we lost our title as champs .A lot of tears were shed but, eventually we all accepted it and moved on. Not winning just gives us the opportunity to try harder next year in order to redeem ourselves. Intramurals was a week of fun for me. It was nice to have a break from schoolwork and exams. It also gave me the opportunity to have fun with my fellow school mates. I’m hoping that next year, I will be able to participate more and be able to contribute a greater deal to my cluster, and maybe the Management Division will gain back their title as champs. Overall, So many lessons and values can be learned from intramurals. I am glad that most if not all schools practice this event annually. It not only promotes health and fitness but values as well. We learn values such as: teamwork, unity, loyalty, cooperation, school spirit, humility, determination and many more. I look forward for next year’s intramurals, and I’m excited with what it has in store for us.

The Epidemic Of Obesity And Obesity - 1319 Words

There’s an appalling epidemic in today’s society sweeping across not only the United States, but all across the globe. This horrible epidemic isn’t the bird flu, or any type of sickness, rather obesity. Today, obesity rates are at an all time high in America. This disease, obesity, is being passed down the family both genetically, and by the terrible eating habits developing in the US. Kids growing up in this generation are facing frightening issues such as increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc., the list goes on. Zinczenko proves this in his text Don’t Blame the Eater, when he says, â€Å"Before 1994, diabetes in children was generally caused by a genetic disorder - Only about 5 percent of childhood causes were obesity-related, or Type 2, diabetes. Today, according to the National Institute of Health, Type 2 diabetes accounts for at least 30 percent of all new childhood cases of diabetes in this country.† (Zinczenko 46 3) The sad part about it, is these kids more time than not, are born into these types of situations. There’s no surprise that obesity rates in America are directly correlated with the increasing amount of fast food chains popping up on every street corner.
